Jamie Deans is a seasoned public relations consultant and the founder of Parkdale PR, a boutique public relations firm based in Toronto and counts The GenWell Project, the Toronto Triathlon Festival and Open Streets Toronto among its clients.
Jamie’s communications expertise comes from the world of sports and entertainment media relations, as a former Director of Communications at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. During his 12 years at MLSE, he worked with all six of its teams in various capacities, including a long run with the Raptors media relations team.
After moving into a corporate role at MLSE, he helped launch Toronto FC, Raptors 905, BMO Field, MLSE Foundation and was involved in the promotion and announcement of dozens of corporate partnership and community initiatives. Along the way he also oversaw the Toronto FC media relations department, helped introduce the indomitable Tim Leiweke to the city of Toronto and mapped out the media plan for the Raptors’ first ‘Jurassic Park’ in 2014.
For Jamie, challenges are opportunities – a belief he employs in the work he does and the way he works. He is a firm believer in embracing all manner of ideas, because sometimes the best answers are found in the least likely places. His collaborative approach and willingness to explore the overlooked when building PR plans and creating engaging narratives has enabled him to successfully tackle a wide range of communications projects.
